Scars of Beauty

Scars of Beauty is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization rooted in healing, empowerment, and community. We serve individuals of all genders who have been affected by breast cancer or carry the BRCA gene—providing inclusive support, education, and advocacy at every stage of their journey.

We believe breast cancer is more than a diagnosis—it’s a deeply personal experience that touches every aspect of life. That’s why our work centers around community-building, personal counseling through breast cancer doula services, and survivor support that honors each person's unique story.

Our services include:

  • Empowering events and photo sessions that celebrate personal stories and promote body autonomy, resilience, and visibility

  • Breast cancer doula care, offering personalized emotional, informational, and logistical support from diagnosis through survivorship or end-of-life care

  • Peer support groups that foster connection, healing, and solidarity

While photography and storytelling remain powerful parts of our foundation, our mission extends further—to ensure every survivor knows their reconstruction choices, feels seen and heard, and is embraced by a compassionate, informed community.

Founded by Linnell Keeling—a breast cancer survivor, professional photographer, and full-spectrum doula—Scars of Beauty reflects both lived experience and professional care. Linnell’s journey through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery shapes everything we do, from how we hold space for others to how we advocate for choice and dignity.

Whether you’ve had a mastectomy, lumpectomy, radiation, chemotherapy, implant or flap reconstruction—or chosen no reconstruction at all—your story is valid, your voice matters, and you are welcome here.

Join us as we celebrate resilience, share knowledge, and build lasting connections. Together, we are transforming scars into stories of strength, beauty, and hope.
